Getaway Shopping Trip

Recommended: H*ll Yes!

Summary: Jeff and I took a few days, jumped in the car with Sid and took off exploring the wonderful city of Easton, OH.

Thoughts: I came across Easton Town Center during work travels, but didn’t have the time to linger–I’ve been dying to explore ever since. So Jeff and I took a quick trip to Easton, OH with the dog!

This town center is literally, a town center–it is setup of upscale shops and restaurants in an area designed to look like a town. There is much pedestrian traffic and a small amount of car traffic. Restaurants we ate at were Smith & Wollensky, Brio Tuscan Grille, and, of course, Panera Bread. We also made a quick breakfast run outside of Easton to Denny’s–something that is long gone from our area. Stores visited were Kate Spade, Ann Taylor, Sur La Table, and of course, Barnes and Noble. We stayed at the Residence Inn, which I would not recommend–although the staff were extremely friendly, the room was rather…moist. Recommend staying at the Courtyard (where I stayed on my business trip) or the Hilton (didn’t go in, but looks impressive from the outside).

Although there is much to do in the town center other than eating and shopping (AMC theater, Comedy Club, Fitness Club), Jeff and I enjoyed the walking and a few trips outside the area (Home Goods, TJ Maxx) which were only a 5 minute drive. Highlight of the trip was Jeff being approached by the owner of a liquor store who offered (which we purchased) a special bottle of whiskey he had stashed in his office for someone who would appreciate it. We also did something we haven’t done in a long time–hang out at the pool.

The trip away, even though it was a couple of days, did wonders for my soul. Thoroughly enjoyed the one-on-one time with Jeff, the outdoor dining, and long walks with Sid. And when I came home, I literally had a renewed sense of spirit.
